Dr. Tung Tran is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He started his General Surgery residency in 2006. In 2008, he was the recipient of the Ed Monaghan Award for Principles of Surgery.
During his residency, he completed a Master of Science in Epidemiology and presented at multiple local, national, and international meetings including CAGS, SAGES and DDW. He was nominated the Candidate Representative to the Board at SAGES and will serve on SAGES2 Resident Education and Legislative Committee for the upcoming term.
He did an additional fellowship year in laparoscopic minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania before starting his career in bariatric surgery at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington. He returned to Quebec, at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé in Laval, in 2016.
